Privacy notice
This notice explains what the website collects when you contact us or book a call, why we collect it, and how long we keep it.
Who we are
This website is run by Law Press Professional Corporation, #207 - 3166 Lenworth Dr, Mississauga, ON L4X 2G1. Questions about this notice can go to us by phone at (289) 309-4779, by email at info@lawpresspc.com, or in writing to the address above.
What we collect
When you book a call or use the contact form, we collect only what the form asks for:
- the type of call you want;
- your name, email address and phone number;
- the city where the rental property is;
- the kind of problem, chosen from a list;
- the full name of the other party, usually your tenant, so we can check for conflicts;
- a hearing date, if you have one;
- your consent to us using these details.
The form does not ask for details of your case. Please do not send confidential details until we have confirmed that we can act for you.
Why we collect it
We use these details to check for conflicts of interest, to respond to you, and to arrange the call you asked for. We do not use them for marketing, and we do not sell them.
Who else handles it
- Email. Your enquiry is sent to us by email, and we send you a confirmation by email. Our email is handled by Google (Google Workspace).
- Booking. If you pick a time on the website, the calendar is provided by Cal.com. Cal.com receives your name, your email address, the time you choose and our reference number for your enquiry, and sends you the confirmation and reminders. Its own privacy policy applies to that information, and Cal.com stores it in the United States.
- Hosting. The website, and the enquiries it stores, are on a server provided by Oracle Cloud Infrastructure in its Toronto, Canada data centre.
- Your answers, documents and calls. We may send you a private web page to answer our questions and upload documents. Your answers and files are kept with your client file. If you agree on that page, Anthropic’s Claude, an AI service, processes your answers in the United States to help prepare notes and forms for the lawyer, who checks them. Anthropic deletes what it receives within 30 days and may not use it to train its systems. If we record a call with you, we tell you first. The recording is transcribed by ElevenLabs in the United States, which deletes its copy once we have ours, and notes may be prepared from it in the same way. If you do not want AI services used for your information, tell us.
How long we keep it
Enquiries sent through the website are stored on the website's server for 180 days, then deleted automatically. Encrypted backup copies, also kept in Toronto, are deleted after 35 days at most. Copies in our email are kept only as long as we need them to respond to you, or longer if you become a client.
If you become a client, your file is kept as our professional obligations require.
Cookies and tracking
The website has no advertising, no tracking scripts and no tracking cookies. It uses two kinds of cookie only when you need them:
- short-lived cookies that carry your form between pages, for example to show your answers again if something needs correcting, or to show the calendar after you send the form. They are encrypted and expire within 30 minutes;
- a sign-in cookie for our own staff on the private admin pages.
To limit spam, the website briefly keeps a count of form submissions from each internet address in memory. It is not written to a file and is cleared within minutes.
To count visits, our web server keeps a record of each page request: the page, the time, the page that linked to it, and the type of browser. The last part of your internet address is removed before the record is written, the record holds no cookies, and records are deleted after 30 days. From them we keep only totals, such as visits per day and the most-read pages, which do not identify anyone. The records and totals stay on our server in Toronto. Form submissions and the private admin pages are not recorded.
Your choices
You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by calling, emailing or writing to us. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
